Fatuma’s Tower is a yoga and meditation retreat house set towards the back of Shella Village, some 3km north of Lamu Town on the island of Lamu. You don’t have to be into yoga to stay here but you should be prepared for a simpler life, no alcohol, excellent communal meals, lots of rest and relaxation and time for thinking and reflecting. More like staying as a guest in someone’s house than a hotel.

Fatuma’s Tower is well located, for the village, beach and Lamu Town. In the main house there are 6 rooms spread over the three floors of the main building and the house divides comfortably into two with separate kitchens. Ground floor is the Garden room with 2 double beds with en-suite bathroom and access directly out on the main garden area. Also on this floor are 2 smaller single rooms, which share a bathroom. First floor is the Balcony room which contains a double and a single bed together with an en-suite bathroom. Top floor is a self-contained apartment with private access and which can be booked separately from the rest of the house. The apartment has two double rooms both of which are en-suite. All the rooms are furnished with simple and perhaps even a Spartan style, which seems to fit with the cleansing of the body, mind and spirit that this house exudes.
